Bold Urban Renaissance Network approached me to create key art for their 2025 revival of the Illinois Regional Burn. I worked on concepts involving dharmachakra and phoenix and I ended up spending all of that time drawing variations on this flame-plumed state bird, “Carnix” the Northern cardinal. The version used for the event’s promotional materials was the one I digitally painted in Krita, such as in the announcement image shown above.

B.U.R.N. Burn will be held on September 17th through the 21st at Camp Tuckabatchee in Ottawa, IL
