Standing Up and Marketing Myself

It’s been a long time since I earnestly built a website for myself. And, while I’ve set out as a freelancer and I’ve been keeping busy, every swell has its calm and I needed a signpost for anyone who isn’t very close.

When I recently started working with Snow Lake, their founder wanted to pay me by credit card and I suppose that this whole website was my answer to that. I needed to have a storefront and a way of accepting card payments. Snow Lake is using Squarespace, so, for now, I went with them too. I self-host some sites and apps (I often joke that I host the Cloud in my living room). I spent half a lifetime designing sites by hand, and I have the skill and infrastructure to do so still, but I needed to “eat my own dog food” as it were and work with the products that I’m supporting, not just engineer them. I may even extend that concept further and launch a few sites on other platforms as well—I sure have enough domain names collected over the years.

2024 was a year of intense skill-development in self-expression and the arts: music making, sound design, and video editing. This year, I started it by incubating a game development company, launching the Winter Ball, then having my first work of fiction published. And, I have since had the space to “just be there” at the right times and in the right places for people who needed help. Gusts prevailing out of the desert a decade ago still blow on this sail and my Continuing Education turns back to the discipline of Marketing as I retrain my bearings inwards.

And now we have Pentacle Solutions, this signpost and sign-up sheet. For the time being, engagement is just the Contact Form on the homepage and the email address in the footer, but if things get complex I will set up an appointment system. If you want to see the projects as they come up, I’ll still be microblogging at BlueSky.

It’s Moonday. It’s the first day of the first week operating as Pentacle Solutions, and I have a full sprint ahead of me.

To our health,
Pen~
